I was reminded by the Lord recently of a vision I had many years ago and what an effect it had on my life. I would like to share it with you. My husband was steeped in sin, drinking, doing drugs or whatever he could do to make him get high. He loved to sing and I always thought of how great it would be if he would use this great talent for the work of the Lord. One night I had a vision of my husband sitting by the living room window in an old recliner we had with a Bible in his hand, reading from it. I caught hold of the vision and never let it go and it became a reality. We must have a vision of our loved ones being saved, healed and delivered.
Proverbs 29:18 -- Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
God wants Christians to have a vision. I am talking about a vision of goal in several areas of our lives. God will not use a preacher or church that is without a vision and who does not win souls.
Luke 19:10 --For the Son of Man is come to seek and save that which is lost. The Apostle Paul had such a vision of lost souls. Acts 20:31- Therefore watch and remember that by the space of three years I ceased not to everyone day and night with tears.
God wants us to catch a vision of hell also. We believe that hell is a real, literal place where the lost will one-day spend eternity. Matthew 5: 29-30 -- And if thy right eye offends thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of they members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. Verse 30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
Just thinking about hell should be enough to make us weep for the lost that are on their way there. The problem is only a handful of people truly believe in a literal hell and they believe that God is a good God and would not send them there.
We need to have a vision of Bible Separation. Proverbs 28:18 - Whosoever walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his own ways shall fall at once. I believe we are getting further and further away from separation of the world in our Christian walk. My heart aches when I see Christians doing things they would not have done years ago. What has happened to the believer today? Where is the obedience that a Christian must live a holy life before the Lord? We must be different than the worlds crowd. We must dress, look, talk, walk and act differently than the world.
II Corinthians 6:17 -- Wherefore come out from among them and be ye separate, saith the Lord and touch not the unclean thing and I will receive you.
Then we need to catch a vision of the Power of Prayer: The greatest need of today in the Church is a need to return to prayer. We will lose this country if we do not return to prayer. God blessed us when the Christian Church prayed. Prayer meetings have become gossip sessions, Youth groups; study groups are mostly turning into talk sessions instead of learning Gods Word. The early Church at Jerusalem shook the world when they were in one accord in prayer.
Acts 1:14 -- They all continued in one accord in prayer and supplication with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus and with His brethren. Acts 12:5 -- Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the Church of God for him. Do you really pray? Now I am not talking about Now I lay me down to sleep," but a prayer that rings Heavens bells.
Lastly we need to catch a vision of the cross: A vision of the cross of Jesus Christ is badly needed today. Here was where the blood was shed for our sins and the sins of the world. Here is where the Victory for you and I was won. If we keep the cross before us, we have Satan defeated before he launches to first attack.
I Corinthians 1:17 - For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
I Corinthians 1: 18 -- For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
Galatians 6:14 -- But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto and I unto the world.
The Lord came from Heaven to die on the cross to make a way for us to live forever with Him. It is up to us to Catch a Vision."
